Student Success Coaches (SSC) believe that every student deserves a rich and meaningful experience at the University of Utah. We work closely with undergraduate students to explore and clarify interests and goals, overcome personal and academic challenges, and connect with campus resources and opportunities.
When should I refer a student to an SSC?
Students can meet with a coach 1-on-1 to build a supportive connection on campus
Finding Connection and Community
Support students in working to create spaces where they feel supported, building meaningful connections, and navigating their college experience with a sense of belonging
Setting Goals
Work with students in clarifying their aspirations, breaking them into actionable steps, and staying motivated as they work toward personal and academic success
Navigating Campus Services and Policies
Guide students in learning to understand and access the resources, support systems, and guidelines that shape their college experience, so they can advocate for themselves and make informed decisions
Teaching Accountability
Support students by guiding them in tracking progress and creating strategies to stay on task, thereby fostering self-regulation and responsibility for their academic and personal growth
Building Motivation
Work with students to identify their personal passions and strengths, set meaningful goals, and provide ongoing encouragement and strategies to stay focused
Developing Academic Skills
Aid students in bolstering their academic skills by providing tailored strategies for learning, studying, and time management
