Will meeting with an SSC remove an academic hold on my account?
A
No, meeting with a Student Success Coach will not remove a hold on your account. We can, however, point you in the right direction towards the office that can help remove the hold.

Is there a fee to meet with an SSC?

Student Success Coaching is a service offered free of charge to any University of Utah student.

At what point during my college career is it best for me to meet with a coach?
A
Anytime! Coaches are here whenever you need support, especially when you're unsure where to start or what to do next.

Can I attend the coaching sessions with my student? (Including phone calls and Zoom)
A
Due to FERPA regulations, we are unable to share a student's educational information with parents or guardians without the the student's consent. To be involved, the student must authorize your access by providing you with a FERPA PIN.

How can my student schedule an appointment with an SSC?

How can I support my student through their coaching journey?
A
Encourage your student to attend their coaching sessions regularly, be open to discussing their goals and challenges, and provide a supportive environment at home.

When are SSCs available?
A
We meet with students year-round including summer term and all break periods! We have in-person, virtual, and phone call availability during regular business hours as well as weekends and evenings.

How are SSCs different from advisors, career coaches, or counselors?
A
Student Success Coaches are generalists who help students get started, explore goals, and connect with the right campus resources like advisors, careers coaches, or counselors.

Can I have a coach come visit my class? What kind of things can you present to students about?
A
Yes, we love to meet with students in a classroom setting and we're happy to connect with you and find the right presentation topic and length of time. Please reach out to an individual coach via our home page and we can work with you to set things up!
